Our Testing Methodology
Hands-On Testing
Every product is purchased or received as a sample and used in our own homes and gardens for a minimum of two weeks.
Real-World Conditions
We test in normal UK home environments with natural light, central heating, and all the imperfect conditions real plant parents face.
Comparative Analysis
Where possible, we test products alongside competitors in the same category.
Honest Reporting
Affiliate partnerships never influence our scores. If a product disappoints, we say so.
Review Criteria
Each product is scored across four weighted categories.
Quality & Performance
Weight: 30%Does the product do what it claims? We test durability, effectiveness, and real-world performance over weeks of daily use.
Value for Money
Weight: 25%We compare price against quality, longevity, and what else is available at the same price point.
Sustainability
Weight: 25%Materials, packaging, supply chain transparency, and brand ethics all factor in.
Design & Aesthetics
Weight: 20%A plant pot or grow light lives in your home. We consider how products look, feel, and fit.
Our Rating Scale
Final scores are out of 10, calculated as a weighted average.
